The AT-LP8X is a semi-automatic direct-drive turntable that combines the convenience of modern technology with the classic style of iconic A-T models, featuring a newly designed tonearm lift that automatically raises the tonearm at the end of a record side and stops the motor.
The new tonearm is J-shaped, from aluminum, reminiscent of classic A-T designs from the 1960s and ?70s and comes equipped with a newly designed AT-LT10 head-shell and an AT-VM95E BK cartridge with a 0.3x0.7mil elliptical stylus. This combination delivers exceptional channel separation and low distortion, resulting in outstanding tonal quality, the company says.
The new turntable plays 33-1/3, 45, and 78RPM records and for optimal 78RPM playback, users will need the dedicated AT-VMN95SP stylus. For those seeking even greater sonic refinement, the stylus can be easily interchanged with any stylus from the Audio-Technica VM95 line. The tonearm offers VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment and includes a sub-counterweight to ensure optimal compatibility with a wide array of cartridges.
Its 25 mm rubber-damped, anti-resonance, die-cast aluminum platter, paired with a 2.5 mm rubber mat, is driven by a sensor-monitored motor that ensures continuously accurate platter rotation speed. The motor and its efficient internal switching power supply are housed within a box plinth constructed of 16 mm MDF. The plinth features height-adjustable feet for protection against unwanted noise and vibration.
The AT-LP8X comes with a detachable RCA output cable (dual RCA male to dual RCA male with ground), a 45 RPM adapter, and a removable hinged dust cover.
